I had an opportunity whilst I was staying in Pai to help out painting the new local school for the day.
We were armed with sponges, rollers, buckets and paint and a rough idea to create a “rainbow room”.
I haven’t painted for years and something about making patterns with bright colours and sponges took me back to school days, especially as I watched some of the kids run around happily in the yard.
I watched them giggle and play hide and seek, and tried to recall years back to a time where I took delight in simple things like painting or drawing – even though it’s not a masterpiece of fine art.
To a time where I was carefree and wondered how I could get a little of that magic back.
“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”
Have you helped out at a local project before?
